Lip augmentation

Of course, many people want full and even lips on their face, but not everyone is lucky enough to have full lips. However, the good news is that in today's technology-driven world, nothing is impossible. Lip augmentation is a form of cosmetic surgery that gives you fuller, slimmer lips. But what  is lip augmentation, lip filler or lip filler? What do these processes involve?

Types of lip augmentation:

Lip augmentation, which can be performed in several ways, is a type of medical cosmetic procedure that aims to significantly change the appearance and shape of the lips by increasing their “fullness.” The most common lip augmentation procedure is lip fillers, a procedure that involves injecting fillers into and around the mouth. These fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a natural substance in the body that helps increase lip volume. While lip fillers are temporary, there is a permanent option known as lip implants, which involves the use of soft but firm silicone implants shaped like natural lips. Then there are other options such as fat grafting and tissue grafting. Let us examine all these methods in more detail.  Lip fillers:

There are many types of fillers, and the most popular type of filler  for lip augmentation is hyaluronic acid, a natural substance in the body that provides increased volume.

During lip augmentation with fillers, the doctor must assess the symmetry and shape of the lips, as well as the overall balance of the face. Based on this,  areas of the lips that should be fuller and more voluminous are determined. The filler is then injected into the upper lip, the lower lip, or both. The gel in the filler supports and shapes the lip tissue. In-office lip augmentation takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes, so you can go home the same day. This is also a temporary solution that only lasts six to eight months.

 Lip implants:

A more permanent option: Implants are placed under the lip fat and over the lip muscles in a thin tunnel that the surgeon creates to accommodate the implant. Typically, surgeons select the corners of the mouth to make  incisions, but the starting point may be somewhere else on the lips depending on the specific technique used.

The three most popular types of lip implants  are  Gore-Tex, Softform and Alloderm. This in-office process takes about half an hour  and you will be sent home the same day.

 Fat and tissue transplantation:

The third method, called autologous lip augmentation, uses your own fat and tissue to create volume. Like the first two options, this procedure is also an internal office procedure. Fat grafting uses fat  from the abdominal cavity. The operation, which is performed under local anesthesia, takes approximately 60-90 minutes. Lips enlarged with sebum remain youthful for five years or more.

Tissue transplantation uses the dermis, or a deeper layer of skin, usually from the abdominal wall or scalp, and sometimes the tissue is obtained as a byproduct of another procedure (tummy tuck, breast reduction, facelift). It also takes about an hour and the results last up to five years.

Lip fillers are the cheapest option, while fat and tissue transfers are the most expensive. However, the difference is immediately noticeable in all cases. After healing, the lips should look natural, but it is recommended to avoid using lipstick or similar products after the procedure. One of the main advantages of these two procedures is that  an allergic reaction or  tissue rejection rarely occurs when the fat or tissue is removed from your body.
